Gold at the Tokyo Olympics, Brazilian Ítalo Ferreira is the champion of the Tahiti stage of the World Surfing Circuit. In the final, this Friday (31), he beat Hawaiian John John Florence, tormentor of Gabriel Medina, who finished in third place. This was the first Brazilian victory in the surfing stage in the 2024 season.
Ítalo Ferreira was sovereign at Teahupoo, the surfing stage at Paris 2024, and didn't give John John a chance. The Brazilian achieved two good scores (8.93 and 8.77), with a total of 17.70. The Hawaiian reached 9.33, but had a total of 17.16.
This is the Brazilian's first title since April 2021, when he won the stage in Newcastle, Australia. With this achievement, Ítalo reached the Top-5 in the general classification.
Brazilian surfing in Paris 2024
Despite winning the title in paradisiacal Tahiti, Ítalo Ferreira failed to qualify for the Olympics, which will be held on the beach in Oceania. Brazil will be represented by Gabriel Medina, Filipe Toledo, João Chianca, Tatiana Weston-Webb, Luana Silva and Tainá Hinckel.
