Italo Ferreira is officially headed to the 2025 WSL Finals! The 2019 World Champion clinched his spot this Wednesday (Aug 19) after advancing to the Round of 16 at the Teahupoo event in Tahiti. Currently ranked 5th in the world, Italo will compete among the Top 5 surfers in Fiji, starting August 27.
Runner-up in both 2022 and 2024, the Brazilian is determined to rewrite the story and claim his second world title. “Watch out, I’m here,” said Italo, confident and fully focused on the Finals' winner-takes-all format.
Off the waves, 2025 was also a special year in his personal life, marked by his wedding and the announcement of his first child, Martin.
At the Finals, Italo may face fellow Brazilian Yago Dora, the current world #1. The title showdown will follow the WSL Finals format: a best-of-three match between the final two contenders.
