
Olympic and world champion Italo Ferreira will wear boards painted with the colors of Rio Grande do Sul in the Tahiti leg of the World Circuit. The surfer shared images on Tuesday and wrote "I'm with you, RS" (see below).
The surfing gold medalist at Tokyo 2020 participated days ago in the rescue of people and animals victims of the floods that hit Rio Grande do Sul. In one of the actions, the surfer from Rio Grande do Sul joined Pedro Scooby and a team of volunteers to help remove a horse that was stuck in a slab. Italo also collaborated by raising more than R$ 100 thousand with the sale of 10 autographed boards.
The second half of the WSL season will kick off this Wednesday on the dreaded waves of Teahupoo.
Italo Ferreira debuts against Griffin Colapinto and Mihimana Brayem, in the fourth heat.
After the mid-season cut, only four Brazilians are still alive in the WSL: Italo Ferreira, Yago Dora and three-time world champion Gabriel Medina, in addition to Tatiana Weston-Webb.
