The São Paulo Surf Club, located in front of the Ponte Estaiada in the southern part of São Paulo, hosted a group of top surfers today to test its innovative wave pool. Among the athletes invited were Brazilian Italo Ferreira, Olympic champion and current number 1 in the World Surf League (WSL) ranking for 2025, fellow Brazilian Miguel Pupo, ranked 3rd in the WSL, and American Rob Kelly.
The event aimed to evaluate the functionality of the pool and the performance of the exclusive PerfectSwell®️ wave technology, which is available only to JHSF in Brazil. Spanning 220 meters in length, the pool is capable of producing various types of waves, including the new McFly wave, which combines a barrel followed by an aerial – an ideal test for professional surfers.
Italo Ferreira, excited about the opportunity, commented: "I was eager to see up close how the project was coming along. Being one of the first surfers to test this technology here at the club, right in the middle of São Paulo, was something unique. Watching the evolution of wave pools and how surfing is becoming more accessible and visible to people makes me really happy. I tested it, and it's more than approved, but now I can't wait for the grand opening."
The PerfectSwell®️ technology, already used at JHSF's Boa Vista Village in the São Paulo countryside, is capable of generating waves up to 22 seconds long, varying in size and intensity. This allows for everything from smaller waves for beginners to large, powerful waves perfect for tubes and advanced maneuvers.
Augusto Martins, CEO of JHSF, highlighted the significance of this milestone for São Paulo: "This is a historic moment for the city: the first artificial wave in São Paulo. The pride is even greater that this milestone has occurred at São Paulo Surf Club, an exclusive location that brings JHSF's excellence to the heart of one of the world's largest metropolises."
Currently, the pool at São Paulo Surf Club is in the testing phase. Soon, members of the development will be invited to participate in the test phase. In the second half of the year, all of the club's facilities will be open to the public, with family memberships starting at R$ 950,000 and annual fees around R$ 25,000.
With its pool, São Paulo Surf Club offers a unique surfing experience, regardless of weather conditions or tides, providing a variety of waves for all skill levels, from beginners to professionals.
